|summary||how to export the profile (cross section) name for beams, columns and members
The profile name is an important information for the design of beams, columns and members. Therefore this information, if available, shall be exported within the IFC file for the coordination view. The export depends on the geometry used for the beam, column and member.
For beams, columns, and members with 'Body' representation of type 'SweptSolid', or 'Clipping':
- the profile name is stored in IfcProfileDef.Name
- in addition, it can be provided as shown below
For beams, columns, and members with 'Body' representation of type 'Brep', or 'SurfaceModel':
- the profile name is stored as name of the beam/column/member type, i.e. IfcBeamType.Name (or IfcColumnType.Name, or IfcMemberType.Name), or
- if export of types is not supported, the profile name is stored as construction type in Pset_BeamCommon.Reference (or Pset_ColumnCommon.Reference, or Pset_MemberCommon.Reference)
This implementer agreement extends the previous agreement #CV-2x3-137.
