summary restrictions on the 'Axis' shape representation for IfcWallStandardCase

Description

The 'Axis' shape representation of an IfcWallStandardCase shall be restricted to:

  • The axis shall be at the base of the extrusion body of the IfcWallStandardCase
  • The axis is positioned by the object (local) placement of the IfcWallStandardCase (and not by the position coordinate system of the extrusion body)
  • The axis shall be parallel to the x-axis of the object (local) placement for straight walls, or the tangent of the Axis at the start point shall be parallel to the object (local) placement for round walls
  • The direction of the axis (or the direction of the tangent of the axis) shall be in the direction of the positive x-axis.

NOTE  In most cases (but not necessarily) the Axis is collinear to the x-axis. The IFC import interfaces shall however also handle a wall axis that is parallel (with offset) to the x-axis of the object (local) placement.
